Deadline Information: The Arts Council of Calvert County’s annual grant season opens August 1. To better support programming throughout the year, we have two application deadlines based on when your program or event will take place. Applicants with programs scheduled between July and January should submit their applications by September 30. If your program occurs between February and June, please plan to submit your application by January 8. This timeline will help the grants committee review applications more efficiently and ensure timely support for all awarded projects. The Arts Council of Calvert County grants must be used in, or for, Calvert County, Maryland to support cultural arts programs.
To be eligible for the ACCC Community Grant, applicants must be a 501(c)3 non-profit.
Community Grant awards are up to $500 per project/program. Separate nonprofits partnering on a shared project may apply with a combined application for a total amount greater than the dollar limit; please contact the Arts Council to talk about specifics of your project before applying. Projects must take place within the fiscal year for which they are applied. Grantees must file a final report at the conclusion of their grant-funded program and must adhere to the ACCC’s Grants Recognition Guidelines as stated on the Arts Council’s website: www.calvertarts.org/grants
Decisions for all Arts Council grant awards will be based on the following criteria:
• Artistic merit of proposed activities
• Organizational effectiveness
• Service to the art community
We recommend reviewing the scoring rubric, found on the Arts Council's website at www.calvertarts.org/grants, prior to completing the application.
PERMITTED USE OF FUNDS. ACCC Community Grant funds may be used to pay for:
• Artist Fees/Honoraria
• Licensing Fees
• Rentals
• Printing
• Advertising
• Other Program-Specific Expenses
NOT PERMITTED USE OF FUNDS. Community Grant funds may not be used to pay for:
• ANY General Operating Expenses
• Fixed Assets
• Capital Improvements
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS FOR GRANT RECIPIENTS
● Must comply with Title VI, Section 601, of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which states that no persons, on the grounds of race, color, or national origin, shall be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination related to, the arts.
● Must comply with Title IV, Section 1681, of the Education Amendments of 1972, and the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, Section 6101, which prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex or age.
● Must comply with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, which states that no otherwise qualified person shall, solely by reason of his or her handicap, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination related to, the arts.
● Must maintain complete and accurate records of all activities connected with the grant.
● Must have filed a satisfactory reporting with Art Council of Calvert County for the most recently completed fiscal year.
● Must file a final report in alignment with the program requirements. Necessary reporting methods will be provided in ample time to meet the deadline. Failure to report may jeopardize any future grant being received by the organization and may result in the organization being required to repay grant funds.
● Must give credit to MSAC and Art Council of Calvert County in accordance with the Recognition Guidelines whenever and wherever credit is being given.
● Must notify the appropriate staff person in writing if a significant change is made in any Art Council of Calvert County funded program or project.
